Station Founded It all started in RAG week 1970, when a pirate radio station, 'Radio Mule: A Station with a Kick' was set up and began transmitting from one of the student halls of residence. The station was so popular that in a student vote an official radio station was voted in favor of a student newspaper/magazine. This resulted in the university building and providing a state of the art radio studio. In 1973 'University Radio Loughboough' (URL) began broadcasting legally. In 1983 the station changed to the name is has today, Loughborough Campus Radio (LCR) and has sinced moved to a new home upstairs in the Student's Union.
