Station Founded 1980Established in 1980, RamAir is the longest running continuously broadcasting student radio station in the UK, opened by ex-PM Harold Wilson. Previously broadcasting via induction loops in halls (now demolished), RamAir has broadcast on 1350AM since 2000 and online, along with the occasional FM RSL. There was also a stint on Yorkshire Cable in the 1990's (now Virgin Media). RamAir was also the first station to have a link to playing RamAir through the Wii and Playstation 3 in 2008, which is also the same year Phil Jupitus broadcast a show through RamAir. In 2011 RamAir had its first Student Radio Association officer (regional officer of Yorkshire and North East) and won its first SRA award (Ian Thursfield GOLD- Best Newcomer). In 2012 RamAir will be hosting the Student Radio Conference!!
