We do radio - no really! Air3 Radio is the radio station for the University of Stirling. For forty years students have locked themselves away in the depths of Airthrey castle learning the necessary skills needed to keep an audience of tens captivated. The new millennium brought with it new interweb capabilities and we Air3 now broadcasts online 20 hours every day. Air3 offers the campus a variety of programming, from the Saturday Sports Centre and the Air3 News to live radio drama and of course, a cavalcade of music. Air3 offers any Stirling student the opportunity to join the station. Hopefully the numbers involved will continue to rise and the quality of Air3 will continue to improve. The innovation and experimentation of the early days remain as Air3 evolves into an increasingly professional service. We hope that every Stirling student has the opportunity to tune it to Air3 and enjoy what we have to offer. Even if you don't actually want to DJ a show, we're always happy to take on people to help out with publicity or promotion, or to work in our new production suite helping DJ's create stuff for their shows. Of course, if you DO fancy the idea of being a DJ, we can put you in touch with the people who do shows, you can work with someone or just take the plunge and go straight onto your own slot.You'll gain great experience in working in the media, technical experience through using a recording studio, not to mention the fact that hey, it's yet another thing to put on a CV to prove that 'I am a well-rounded individual with good social skills and I didn't just sit in my room for four years, honest!'Membership of Air3 currently costs a bargain rate of £10 a semester and there are several ways to get in touch with us and tell us you want in: Email us at stationmanager@air3radio.com Give us a ring on 01786 467179 Come into the Air3 office (Opposite Studio) Turn up to a meeting, check the Noticeboards in the Atrium Can't wait to have you on board!

Station Founded 1972Air3 is almost as old as the university itself; originally known as URA: University Radio Airthrey, it was started in 1969 and for the next 30 years would broadcast on an induction loop system to the halls of residence. In the summer of 2000, this old induction loop system was replaced with a brand new MediumWave transmitter which allowed the station to broadcast freely to the whole of campus. A decision was made to move to online broadcasting only, on the basis that every student can listen through their computer, and also now their iPhones and other smartphones     The future for Air3 1350 is bright, rebranded to promote the stations frequency, it has been relaunched in the spring of 2001 with a new look, a new website, new shows and a new identity. We've got even more plans for the station in the near future to make it more relevant to Stirling students, and we're all very excited about what the future holds....
