If you managed to make it along to the Radio Academy Swindon Masterclass, you'll remember Radio 1 Controller Andy Parfitt setting the following competition:

“We are looking for a 60 second un-edited clip (or selection of shorter clips) which best conveys the spirit of the weekend. It can be an interview with a member of the public or with a celebrity, but the most important thing is communicating “atmosphere”. The winning entry will be judged by a senior exec at BBC Radio 1 and the winner will receive one week’s work experience at BBC Radio 1. "

Re-Live The National Student Radio Conference

It's been a little while now since the Student Radio Conference in Leeds, and we thought we'd re-live some memories. The conference - which proved to be the biggest ever with over 200 delegates - saw speeches from some of the biggest names in the BBC and Commercial Radio.

Through the summer we'll be updating the website with some of our audio highlights from the conference, starting with a definite highlight - from James Cridland, Head of Future Media and Technology for BBC Audio & Music Interactive. Even if you didn't manage the trip up to leeds - there's loads of valuable tips for student radio and beyond.

James shared with us some of the exciting things the BBC are up to in the Multi-Platform radio world, as well as some tips on how student radio can ensure it's at the cutting edge. You can hear James' talk here.

Student Radio Award Winners on BBC Radio 1

This morning (Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May) the winners of the Best Male and Best Female categories in the Student Radio Awards 2008 broadcast a live 3 hour show on BBC Radio 1. The Show was broadcast at 4am, as the prize for the winners who were announced at indigo2 in London in November.

The show is still available on BBC iPlayer - so why not give it a listen.

The category definitions and guidelines for the 2009 Student Radio awards will be being announced soon, so watch this space!
